Description of the picture:
Triptychon: „Freedom“
Acrylic on linen   2013
Part I:
The black with red symbolizes war, which always must be bloody end never can be just. The white stays for freedom, the words mean “freedom” in many different languages. Freedom is often threatened, restricted, cannot develop itself. This fact is symbolized with the black beam on the upper margin of the picture.
Part II:
War is displaced by peace, peace is able to spread, but only if we live in inner peace with ourselves we may accept the others, symbolized by the different words for peace, how they are and only then peace can be possible. The ways to get there are as different as there are people in the world. Religions show us a possible way which may take us to the aim if we choose a permanent examination of ourselves and the world.
Part III:
The white in picture 3 symbolizes the aspired ideal state, peace with yourself and peace between all people in the world. Religions speak for example of the resurrection in Judaism and Christianity, the nirvana in Buddhism or the redemption of the human being in Hinduism.
The word פרידן means peace in Yiddish language.
